rauminhalt as guest …
at Palais Herberstein, Herrengasse 1–3, 1010 Vienna
January 20 – March 31, 2023
With the exhibition Steinbrener/Dempf & Huber, Galerie rauminhalt presents studio works by the artist collective with the same name, which includes the sculptor Christoph Steinbrener, the photographer and graphic artist Rainer Dempf and the architect Martin Huber, in the format “rauminhalt as a guest …” at Palais Herberstein (Herrengasse 1–3, 1010 Vienna) from 19 January to 31 March 2023.
In their works, they focus on the increasing commercialisation of urban space and the complex relationship between civilisation and nature. In various projects, they address issues such as the devastation of cities and landscapes by people.
In the context of their first presentation of works in the context of a gallery exhibition, the focus will be on the studio works.
The exhibition focuses on those works that are created apart from projects for public spaces and that allow the artists a more free and experimental approach in contrast to the “meticulously planned procedures of works for public spaces”.
The works selected for the exhibition – such as collages, dioramas and animal pieces – can be read as sketches of ideas. “They are conversation pieces in the figurative sense, visualising the conversation and artistic exchange between the sculptor, the photographer and the architect.”(1)
