PASS THE BUCK
An economic strategy meets a place of spirituality.
Ursuline Church, Linz, June 2007
The creative intervention by Steinbrener/Dempf & Huber turns the portal of the Ursuline Church into an architectonic entrance situation like a Starbucks Coffee Shop. With their work the artist-collective succeed in expressing art as a break with reality. Exchanging carriers of signs in public space not only draws attention, it also develops its effect as an irritation of perception. Where a church was, there is now consumption. Is the Ursuline Church now transformed into a church of shopping frenzy, or does it remain forever dedicated to abstinence from consumption?
